WINTER FIELD DAY

As you may know, WFD begins January 25 at 11:00 a.m. eastern and ends at 4:59 on Sunday January 26

TARS activations will be at Northwood Community Center at 8005 Oak Grove Dr off Bannerman Road on Saturday (visitors to our WFD activation can find us in the parking lot behind the main building opposite of the playground), and at Blarney Park on 2502 Blarney Dr in Killearn on Sunday.

TARS will be represented by Chris KO4DN, Bill KF4KHJ, and Adrienne AJ4D. Anyone who wishes to participate can still do so from the comfort of home!

As in past years, changes have been made to the operational procedures for this year's WFD. All of the necessary information can be found here at

https://winterfieldday.org/

After carefully going over the rules and watching the available videos, I am recommending that after noting the exchange, participants first review the Objectives, decide which ones they want to shoot for, then tailor their operation toward those objectives. For example, the WFD Buletin will be sent out over SSB, CW, and Olivia. If someone wants to copy and return it with their log, but doesn't know CW or Olivia, they can listen for it via SSB or not at all. The Bulletin transmission times are here:

There are 11 possible objectives which can be found with the complete rules here:

Another objective people have questions about is that at least one Winlink message must be sent AND received. For those wanting to meet this objective, Jason KM4ACK has an answer with his WFD Challenge...

As mentioned before, points made by individuals do not accrue to the club points...that was done only during Covid.  Additionally, FT4 and FT8 contacts will not be accepted.

Logging can be done free with World Radio League logger but internet access is required to do so...

N3FJP also has a WFD logger that has the first 30 contacts free, but there is a charge beyond that.

Finally, there is more information from the WFD Board and the amateur radio YouTube community event in this letter:

We hope you can join and make some WFD contacts! If you have any questions about this event, please forward them to me.

73!
